Residents and stay-over guests at Hopewell Conservation Estate have complimentary access to various multipurpose nature trails onsite.  Pre-booked functions and events are also welcomed.

These multi-purpose nature trails were designed with walking, hiking, trail running, mountain bike and general outdoor enthusiasts in mind and offer visitors the opportunity to learn more about Hopewell’s unique fauna and flora and its vast birdlife - up close and personal. 

With such diverse habitats and Biomes in such close proximity, various species can be seen on foot. From the majestic eland to the diminutive duiker, the Reserve holds sanctuary to a variety of indigenous antelope and mammal species.  Keep a look out for kudu, red hartebeest, Cape mountain zebra, springbok, and giraffe. 

With more than 150 resident bird species recorded in the Reserve, the birding is spectacular.  The valleys resonate early mornings, during dawn chorus times, as these forest species advertise their territories and thus themselves.  On the open areas, different flight displays and patterns are given to maximise the potential in establishing territories and then a new mate. 

For those preferring a less energetic manner of viewing the magnificent scenery and wildlife - a 25 km self-drive game drive route is also available.  Note: a high ground clearance vehicle is required.
